OVR Hosts Virtual Training for Parents of Transition-Age Students with Disabilities
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) in collaboration with the Pittsburgh District Office is offering a virtual Parent/Caregiver Information Session aimed at supporting transition-age students with disabilities. The session is designed to provide parents and caregivers with important information on OVR services, which can assist in preparing students for their future.
The session will cover the OVR process, services, and programs available to help students with disabilities transition into adulthood. The virtual meetings will be held on several dates, with each session offering the same valuable information. Parents can attend at either 12 p.m. or 6 p.m. on the following dates:
• Tuesday, October 29, 2024
• Monday, November 18, 2024
• Thursday, December 19, 2024
Registration is required, with deadlines set for 10 a.m. on the day of the 12 p.m. sessions and 3 p.m. for the 6 p.m. sessions. Interested participants can register by emailing Early Reach Coordinator Jonette Gallo at RA-LIOVRWASHPRE-ETS@pa.gov.
In addition to these sessions, the Early Reach Program offers a variety of resources to students and families, including topics such as self-advocacy, career exploration, and resume writing, as part of Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS).
