Message from John Diamond, Principal of LHHS

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. We wanted to inform you about an initiative to ensure the safety and well-being of our students at Laurel Highlands High School.

In our commitment to maintaining a secure learning environment, the school, in collaboration with local law enforcement, scheduled a random drug dog search of the school premises. This proactive measure aims to deter the presence of prohibited substances on campus and support a safe educational setting for all students.

The search was conducted this morning with the primary focus on common areas, lockers, and parking lots. No students were present in the classrooms when searched. Although the school was locked down to manage the search, there was no threat to the safety of our students and staff. It's essential to note that the intention behind this initiative is to ensure a safe and healthy environment for every student, not to target any individual.

We encourage this opportunity to engage in conversations with your child about the importance of adhering to school policies and the consequences of possessing or using prohibited substances. Our collective effort in fostering a culture of responsibility and respect greatly contributes to the success and well-being of our school community.

Thank you for your continued partnership in promoting a secure and positive learning environment for our students.

Sincerely,

John K. Diamond, Principal

Laurel Highlands HS
