LHSD COVID Tracker Week Ending 4/1/22

April 1, 2022

Dear Family members, Staff, Stakeholders, and Students,

In an effort to provide transparent, accurate, and timely information in regard to the infections of COVID-19 within the Laurel Highlands School District; below is building information that quantifies the number of COVID-19 cases and the number of personnel and students who are either quarantined due to DOH and/or medical provider recommendations or who are COVID-19 positive and are following the DOH guidance in regard to quarantining week ending 4/1/22. Please keep in mind that often staff and students who are COVID-19 positive have self-quarantined prior to diagnosis; therefore, the contagious timeline does not affect others or our schools. However, if this is not the case, the DOH and/or medical provider will connect with us to determine close contact(s). Subsequently, we will be following all DOH/PDE guidance in regard to mitigation protocols.

UPDATE 4/1/22: Sending on behalf of the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH)

In response to the decline in COVID-19 cases across the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) is implementing changes to the K-12 school COVID-19 case and close contact reporting process effective Friday, April 1, 2022. Since October 2021, K-12 schools have been submitting aggregate case and close contact numbers to DOH on a weekly basis. As of April 1, schools should use the survey to report aggregate case numbers only. Schools should no longer report aggregate close contact numbers when completing the survey. Additionally, schools should only complete the survey if there are new cases in the school during the reporting period. If a school does not have any new cases within the reporting period, a survey does not need to be submitted. DOH will notify schools if additional changes to the reporting process are necessary. Thank you for your continued efforts to keep students, staff, and your communities safe.

Therefore, effective immediately the Laurel HIhgland School District will respond in like-kind when reporting cases on our website. In short, we will report cases only if they arise. We thank you for your support and patience during this pandemic, we hope that we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
